Dr Natalia Hipsz wanted to create a distinctive thought leadership film that would present her expertise in a memorable and engaging way. At the same time, the complex subject of sample representativeness had to remain accessible to beginners while still valuable to experienced researchers.
The challenge was to translate her scientific knowledge into the language of film, reshaping the presentation into a natural voice-over and developing visual ways to communicate complex ideas.
With the project being independently funded, every production decision had to deliver maximum creative value within the available resources.
We started with the story. Natalia’s presentation was reshaped into a voice-over, transforming conference-style material into a clear and engaging film narrative.
Instead of putting research on screen in the usual way, we took the film into a beautifully designed wooden A-frame cabin, surrounded by forest in the buffer zone of Kampinos National Park.
We arrived at the cabin with a two-person crew, a lightweight camera setup, the voice-over and a rough script. The rest was intentionally left open, we wanted the location to help shape the film.
We planned a dedicated concept day to explore the cabin, its interiors, objects and surroundings with Natalia. What we found there became the basis for the remaining scenes and visual metaphors used to explain how a representative sample is achieved.
Over two shooting days, we turned those ideas into unusual, suggestive images, deliberately avoiding the familiar language of corporate films. The goal was a scientific adventure rather than a typical research video.
Then, as the film took shape in the edit, Natalia refined the voice-over once more. We recorded the final version to fit the story and images that had emerged from the process.
The film stood out from the usual research content and quickly found an audience among professionals on social media. It received very positive feedback from researchers and practitioners in Natalia’s field and caught the attention of the LinkedIn team.
Beyond the feedback, it helped Natalia establish valuable new contacts and led to several new project opportunities.
